1) The Good Samaritan Laws in Virginia are that you can help the person that is ill or injured at the scene of an accident , fire , or any life threatening emergency . If you help the injured person you are not liable for helping that person . The other state I chosen to do was Oklahoma . The Good Samaritan Laws in Oklahoma are that you can only provide CPR or stop bleeding in an emergency situation . You are liable for the actions you do if you are untrained . 2) The actions I would take are help the person if I was not liable for helping the person out depending on their situation.

1) The Good Samaritan Laws in virginia allows you to help anyone in need of emergency care, but you can only help them if it is in the field that you are trained in. That means if you are trained in CPR and the person has a broken leg, you can only reassure them that help is on the way, but you are not allowed to touch his leg or stabilize it. You can only keep the person calm, but the law in virginia does not require you to help anyone in need.
2) The Good Samaritan Laws in Florida allows any person can not be held liable for damages as a result of medical treatment including the diagnoses. which means, if you see someone in need oh emergency help you have to help them.
3) If i saw someone in need of CPR or bleeding and needing immediate attention, i would not hesitate to help them. If it was something i was not trained in, i would call 911 to get an ambulance headed to the scene and try to keep the person calm and talk to them to prevent further damage to themselves are to me. I'm not that kind of person who can just walk away from someone in need. I don't see how anyone can.

I cant believe the laws in Oklahoma, only CPR and stop bleeding. But i do agree if you provide training like setting broken bones then you are responsible for any further damage done to the bone. If you know it is something that is out of your training, don't treat them.

1)Base on my research, the good Samaritan Laws in Virginia stated that you are allow to help a person that is in any life threatening emergency base on your training field. 2) The good Samaritan law in Indiana stated that you should be a certified emergency medical technician or a certified emergency medical technician-basic to provides emergency services to an emergency patient. and you are not liable for an act or omission in providing those services unless the act or omission constitutes negligence or willful misconduct. 3) If I ever find my self in a emergency situation all i would do is call 911 and assure the person in need that help will be on the way shortly.

The Good Samaritan laws encourage people to offer assistance in emergency situations. Virginia provides immunity from civil liability for rendering emergency care in good faith and without compensation. People who render emergency care, obstetrical services are exempt from liability. If a citizen helps deliver a baby without having given care or known anyone who has given her care, is not liable for any civil damages that occur during birth. In Alabama, it restricts protection to trained features or employees of the public education system, unless the victim is suffering a cardiac arrest. The action I would take in a emergency situation is by considering if the situation is reasonable or if the severity of the situation is something I can take on. I will try my best to help someone in need, but I want to make sure I feel comfortable enough to stay calm and clear minded while I'm helping. Things can go wrong if someone is frantic and can't focus. My main goal is to try and better the situation not make it worse.

If we have these good samaritan laws in these states that offer liability in emergency situations, I believe that they should make people in that state take a CPR course once they get of age, because a lot of people don't know how to give CPR properly.

The other state that I found the Good Samaritan Laws on was Arizona. In that state any health care provider licensed or certified to practice at the scene of an emergency is not liable for any civil or other damages unless any act of failure to act to provide medical treatment is guilty of gross negligence. If I was to come upon an emergency situation I would definitely take part in it to help the person out as much as I can just for the simple fact that I have my BLS and worked in the hospital setting on a cardiac floor. I have a little bit of experience from that job and I think it helps me a lot when it comes to an emergency situation.

I completely agree with you about taking part in an emergency situation being that we are not liable for any kind of damage. I can't believe that Oklahoma only lets you provide CPR or stop bleeding. That is unbelievable because there are so many other things that could be going on with the person and you have to wait for rescue to get there.

In my opinion it takes a very cold, heartless person to just walk away from someone that needs life saving help. On the other hand I can understand the point that some people are just too afraid because of the possibility that they are going to end up getting sued by the person that they are trying to help in the end. Its a sad world when you have to worry about that because you want to try to help save someone's life.

Melissa, I agree with you about stopping to help someone that is in need. I can also understand why some people would not stop to help. In most instances they will not stop because they are too afraid that they will end up getting sued by the person that they are trying to help. Kelsie, I wonder if in the state of Arizona is it only the persons that are licensed or certified that may help in an emergency or is it that anyone can help?
